The Managing Consultant will possess professional experience in two areas of the Revenue Cycle: Patient Access, Health Information Management, and/or Patient Financial Services expertise. This position will be responsible for hands-on assessing, planning implementing and directing the transformation of key revenue cycle business processes. In addition to strong management skills, the Managing Consultant should possess a track record of successfully managing high performance, interdisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and achieving measurable performance outcomes.

The Managing Consultant will be responsible for overseeing project management, client management, solution design and implementation and generation of engagement results. Also, working with client project leaders and effectively using change management strategies, guides the client through transformation efforts. This position will perform any and all job related duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Service/ Business Development:

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Revenue Cycle service offerings as well as Navigant Cymetrix service offerings.

  • Perceived by the client as a lead person for one or more of the project teams.

  • Develops a network of personal and business contacts.

  • Routinely identifies add-on opportunities on current projects.

  • Assists with the development of proposals.

  • Actively participates in the recruiting process.


  • Provides regular project status updates to the project director and the project team.

  • Demonstrates solid facilitation skills.

  • Actively leads meetings with low and mid-level client groups.

  • Demonstrates the ability to determine the most appropriate format and scope for client deliverables including the ability to create deliverables suitable for senior-level client audiences.

  • Demonstrates effective listening skills.

  • Ability to identify and articulate project obstacles/ issues and determine potential solutions.

  • Expresses self in a confident manner in individual and group settings.


  • Actively participates in healthcare educational opportunities, such as HFMA audio-visual presentations, on-line research, accessing periodicals, PD initiatives and internal NCLC.

  • Revenue Cycle processes/functions

  • Benchmarking methodologies (internal and external) for related revenue cycle functions

  • Financial impact that revenue cycle processes has on indicators such as Bad Debt, Charity, Allowances, and Denials

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify potential project risks/issues and determine appropriate courses of action/ resolution.

  • Focuses on quality and risk management at the project level. Takes action to address quality assurance issues on project team.

  • Adheres to all of Navigant Cymetrix administrative requirements including time submission, expense reporting, billing and A/R management in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Demonstrates the ability to assess analytical results, determine root cause issues, and propose solutions.

  • Developing SME capabilities with a focus on at least one functional area.

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of applicable experience in healthcare financial management (at least 3 years in a hospital setting).

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in finance or accounting preferred.

  • Will consider a combination of relevant education and additional experience.

  • Must possess in depth experience in at least two of the following areas (Patient Access, Health Information Management or Patient Financial Services).

  • Must have a solid understanding of Healthcare Revenue Cycle.

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have knowledge of healthcare applications and systems.
